The Monthly General Membership meeting was held at the Palmer Building Tues. March 8th, (B-Shift on Duty), starting on time - 7:00pm and actually ending early, a little after 8:00pm.
Topics included the proposed City Budget deficit, (Thank you NBA Millionaire/arena supporters - "GO BOBCATS" ), Health & Safety, JRPAT, Palmer Building Inc., etc.
Also discussed was the general opposition to the recently decreed night & Saturday training, educational/promotional requirements, and as always - politics, politics.
Keeping the meeting lively was yet another bout between Billie D. & Slim, this time with Billie D. now accusing the Executive Board of "discrimination" against him. Apparently Billie D. was miffed that his firehouse retirement drop-in was not attended as well as he had hoped - due to folks choosing instead to go pay proper respect at a Deputy Chief's retirement party over at the Palmer Building.
Billie D. was also upset over the discontinuation of the retiree watch program. Due to budget restraints, and fiduciary responsibilities, there was no money to continue funding purchasing the IAFF watches this past December. While understanding that every retiree deserves recognition, including Billie D., the money simply was not there to reorder.
It made for a lively meeting, with adult beverages consumed by many afterward. Don't miss next month's meeting!
Please remember the Saint Patrick's Day Parade on March 12th, ( A-Shift on Duty), and support the CFD Pipe Band!
