UpHere are the issues the the Local has addressed in your name over the past few weeks. (Update 4/15/2016)
Week of April 10th:Spoke to Chief Owen regarding Hoods and Second Set of Turnout gear, additionally spoke regarding issues to be addressed at FDIC. Also, spoke to Chief Gordon regarding the promotion of the Health and Safety Officer and the 9-11 Stairclimb and continued work on those issues and accomplishments. Also, discussed partnering on some cancer initiatives for the CFD.
4/12 After numerous converations, received confirmation that Jeff McGill's Death will be designated as an LODD as far as the IAFF is concerned. This allows him to receive LODD metal and his children access to the McClelland Scholarship through the IAFF. Contacted the FC to discuss this and have not received contact back as of 4/15/16.
4/13: Spoke with City officials and confirmed that If Public Safety Physicals are approved as an SLC this year, they will not drive up health insurance premiums as reported by some. Also, spoke with DVP Osborne concerning LODD designation of Jeff McGill's passing as far as the IAFF is concerned.
Also, with Brother Feneis we are establishing an email list of all members without Retiree health care. We will attempt to send out monthly updates to that group and to the task group to ensure all items are told. Also, spoke to Asheville Firefighters president about the issue and Mike will reach out to him to merge efforts with Asheville.
4/14 Spoke with IAFF Health and Safety and confirmed Seth Tinsley's Death will be classified as LODD as far as IAFF is concerned as well. Called Chief Hannan to discuss and haven't heard back.
Brother Feneis: Researched addtional options for retiree health care and costs therein. Contacted IAFF and Mike/Jonah will contact Chief Gordon to get necessary information we should have some of it next week. Contacted the Credit Union and working on the implementation of the dues increase.
4/11: Spoke with Ron Saathoff of IAFF regarding retiree healthcare study and what was needed.
4/12: Sent email to command staff requesting the exploration of awarding city benefits to McGill with regards to a job related illness.
4/14: Spoke with Chief Hannan regarding Jeff McGill's passing and possibility of getting a LODD in the eyes of the city. Also spoke with Chief regarding the retiree healthcare. He is getting the required info so the IAFF can do the cost study.Emailed everyone that emailed with wanting to be on the Healthcare committee and updated them. Corrected: Anyone Hired after July 1, 2009 will not receive retiree healthcare not July 1, 2008.
4/15:Contacted city HR regarding the information needed for retiree healthcare. Sent Ron Saathoff part of information for study along with speaking to him on the phone. Contact Brother Mullins from Ashville regarding there process in retiree healthcare. Optained email from City Attorney regarding firearms on city property, stating it that employees may store a gun in their car at a city work site.
4/19: Attended FDIC in Indy, attended classes including: Firefighter Free Speech, Assessment Center Process, The art of Making a Difference and others. Spoke with Firefighter Cancer Foundation, and several decon vendors.
4/25:Spoke with IAFF regarding Retiree Healthcare. Delivered shorts, cost is $20. Continued to set up hotline. Contacted FOP regarding Retiree Healthcare.
Brother Brewer: Formulated and sent an email with the Local's priorities for the Budget process.
4/14 Forwarded the Council initiatives email sent on Tuesday to the Fire Chief to ensure continuity of efforts as the budget proposal is finalized.
