Feneis:
Have continued to work on retiree healthcare, had committee meeting were we talked with a consultant about Healthcare trust. He has also helped with some numbers to figure out a way to approach city in our continued fight to regain retiree healthcare. Spoke with several city benefits coordinators on the issue and scheduled one to speak to our committee group this month. Also in on Safety Pay Plan meeting making sure your union is represented in pay and benefits. Helped Jonah and his committee at what ever they needed at the stair climb to help this great event. Had meeting with Chief Hannan about retiree healthcare and NFPA 1582 physicals also spoke about the current air packs, new gear, and the thermal imaging masks that are being tested. Your local is making sure that they are safe. Along with the Eboard spoke with several city benefits people about the Myclinic Wilkinson Blvd locationoffering NFPA 1582 physicals. We were informed they are ready but city is working through a few bugs and should be ready soon. You will be able to go to this location if you wish and get this important physical. Also spoke to some of the command staff regarding these physicals and along with Eboard are going to meet about this topic this month. Along with Eboard completely redesigned the website that will make it easier to navigate to keep yourself up to date. Along with this we will soon be offering online store. This will make it easier for our members to buy Local 660 clothing and other materials. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.
Smith:
We had a very sucessful stairclimb once again. Thanks to everyone who assisted in the event. We had a large crowd as always, and were happy to have Roy Cooper speak at the opening ceremonies. We should have final financial numbers very soon, and work has already begun on 2017. I fielded many calls regarding physicals and the limitations of them. Numerous members are concerned over the possibility of people being taken off of the apparatus for health issues. 1582 is very complex and physicians and cities can interpret it differently. Feneis and Smith have a meeting scheduled with Chief Gordon and Chief Bonham to discuss some of the concerns from all sides to begin to shape an effective program for our department. I was added to the Public Safety Pay Plan committee and Feneis and I are working on getting information from the IAFF to assist in doing a thorough analysis of the issues with our pay plan including which comparables are being used.
